Breaking news! Konami has just updated their countdown-countdown-countdown website prior to this year’s E3 event to show off Simon Belmont‘s brand new look. Look Around You – Computer Games

This is a very informative video about the new “computer” gaming trend. Look for Peter Serafinowicz (voice of Darth Maul and Pete in Shaun of the Dead) at around 4:10.

NES Repros

As Eric from Tiny Cartridge would say, check out this dope situation. Whoa! You send this guy a donor cartridge and some money and then he will reprogram it into one of the listed games (assuming the donor is an appropriate match). Not only can you get translated Japanese games and prototypes, you can also get popular fan-made hacks like Mario Adventure and Tecmo Super Bowl with an updated roster. The high quality labels are also a nice touch.

If the associated board and label fit, it would be fun to have this guy put one of the games into an ugly pool-paint blue Color Dreams cartridge. That would definitely give it some unlicensed cred.

Finally, something good can come from M.C. Kids.

A Next Kojima Game Is?

70 hours from this message, a new Konami game will either be revealed or teased a third time, but the answer to this riddle is clear: Konami and Kojima Productions are working on the long-awaited follow-up to Super Castlevania IV for the SNES. If the pulsing “5” was not a dead giveaway, just look at that lush Transylvanian countryside! Turn up your speakers! Listen to the thunder sound effects — staples of any gothic/horror game!

Okay, I know. Wishful thinking on my part. I guess we’ll just have to settle for Contra 5. Sigh.

These lists have been made before, but I’d like to make one of my own. It is an understatement to say that Duke Nukem Forever has had a long development cycle. I guess they’re using Scrum or Agile or something. Anyway, whole video gaming systems have launched and died in the time span between the announcement of DNF and its (apparent) demise. Let’s take a look at some of the milestones in gaming history and their connection to Duke Nukem Forever. I’m sort of plodding around, plucking out dates at random. If you remember something specific, feel free to comment and I’ll add it to the list.
