Summer ’09 Junk Food Mini-Review

wowmtndew

Okay, so it’s about time I start reviewing some junk food on this junk food/video game blog. World of Warcraft Mtn Dew GAME FUEL is up first.

I have tried both flavors and Horde-branded Dew is by far the best. Night Elf Mtn Dew tastes like Baja Blast. There isn’t anything wrong with that; however, when I drink Baja Blast the Taco Bell portion of my brain lights up. These mana potions are lacking in the Taco dept. There are only so many flavors that can be attributed to blue beverages. The Horde flavor is very similar to the Halo Fuel from two years ago, so if you’re familiar with that then you will know what to expect.

New Strawberry Peanut Butter M&M’s Chocolate Candies (Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen promotional shlock). These sounds like a great idea, but they taste like Starburst mixed with Reese’s Pieces. I can’t even taste the chocolate. The flecks of red splattered on the M&Ms make them look like they’ve been in some horrible accident. Either that or they’ve contracted a strawberry-flavored rash. Ugh. Considering they cost about a buck then I suppose they are worth trying.

Tune in next time when I review Star Trek Romulan Raspberry Faygo.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

And there it is.

Kojimavania?

Previously I reported on the possibility of a new Castlevania game in the works at Konami, possibly by Kojima Productions.

Maybe I was right?

When I Wake Up – Wintergreen

This might be a little old by internet time, but the song and video are both great. Is there really a landfill full of E.T. games? The game’s designer believes that the cartridges would have been recycled into other games. That makes a lot of sense considering how much money was dumped into development of the game ($20+ million in licensing alone, which was like $700 billion in 1982 dollars).

Ultimate Frogger Champion

Here are the details from RetroZone:

Nerdy Nights’ first success story, Ultimate Frogger Champion is Kevin Hanley’s ambitious first project bringing Frogger to the Nintendo Entertainment System. Dodge cars, pick up a lady frog, avoid the water, and try to get your frog home in this instant classic, coming to the Nintendo Entertainment System for the first time. In addition to the tried and true formula of the arcade classic, Ultimate Frogger Champion includes an all new two-player mode entitled BATTLEFROGS! Go find some friends and challenge them today!

A new Nintendo game. That’s cool. RetroZone also has a few other homebrew/prototype games like Mike Tyson’s Intergalactic Power Punch. I have no idea if these games are any good, but like the repros I wrote about last week, they sound neat.
